Who this policy covers
This policy covers dfwroofquotes.com, which is run by DFW Roof Quotes. DFW Roof Quotes is a referral service for homeowners and businesses in Dallas-Fort Worth. It is not a roofing contractor. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean DFW Roof Quotes.
What information we collect
We collect what you type into our forms, plus technical and usage data from the browser you use to visit the site.
Quote request form
- Your first name, last name and ZIP code
- How you want to be contacted, and the phone number or email address you chose
- What is going on with your roof, and any note you add
- Up to three photos of your roof, if you add them
- Whether you checked the box agreeing to be contacted
- The page you were on, the page that sent you, the time of the request, and any campaign tags in the link that brought you
Contact form
- Your name, your email address, your phone number if you add one, and your message
Collected automatically
- Your IP address and browser details, which the web host records in standard server logs
- For the contact form only, a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, kept for one hour to limit repeat submissions
- Through Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4: the pages you view, your device and browser type, your approximate location (worked out from your IP address) and how you interact with the quote form, such as starting it, moving between steps or submitting it
We do not collect passwords, payment details or your precise location. The site has no accounts.
What happens to form entries
Quote request form. When you submit it, the website checks your entries on its server and saves them in four places:
- Google Sheets. Your entries are written to a Google Sheet kept in the DFW Roof Quotes Google account (matt@dfwroofquotes.com). That is where requests are tracked and where a roofing partner hand-off is prepared.
- Amazon Web Services (S3). Photos are stored privately on Amazon S3. They are not public, the links to them are long and random, and they are deleted automatically after 90 days.
- A backup on the website’s server. A private copy of the full request is kept in the site’s database, visible only to the site owner. Photos wait there only if the S3 upload could not be completed.
- An email alert. The site owner receives one email with your first and last name and a link to the Sheet. The email does not contain your phone number, email address or address.
Contact form. Your message is checked on our server and then emailed to the DFW Roof Quotes inbox. The website does not keep a copy of it in its database.
The quote form also reports interaction events to Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4: that someone started the form, completed a step, added a photo or submitted it. These events carry the step name, the service chosen, the city of the page and the contact method, not your name, phone number, email address or the photos.
After you submit, the thank-you page keeps a private reference code in your browser for the next step of your request. It is removed from the address bar and never shown on the page.
Other companies that receive technical data
When a page loads, your browser contacts a few outside services. Each one can see your IP address and browser details.
- Google (Sheets and Apps Script) stores and processes quote requests in the DFW Roof Quotes Google account.
- Amazon Web Services (S3) stores photos you add to a quote request.
- Google Tag Manager (googletagmanager.com) and Google Analytics 4 receive the usage data described above. Google processes it under its own privacy policy.
- Google Fonts (fonts.gstatic.com) supplies the site’s fonts.
- jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net) supplies an animation library.
- The site’s web hosting provider (Hostinger) runs the server, stores the backup copy of quote requests and keeps standard server logs.
- The site’s email delivery service sends the alert and contact form emails.
We do not embed maps, videos, social media buttons or advertising networks.
How we use information
- To answer messages sent through the contact form
- To understand how visitors use the site, which pages help and where the quote form loses people, so the site can be improved
- To keep the forms secure, using a hidden spam-trap field and a limit on repeat submissions
- To track quote requests, and to pass each one to one preferred roofing partner
How long we keep it
Photos are deleted automatically after 90 days. We have not set a fixed retention period for the rest of a quote request, which stays in the Google Sheet and the website backup until the site owner deletes it. Contact form emails stay in the inbox until they are no longer needed. The repeat-submission counter expires after one hour.
Your choices
- Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, through the contact page.
- Ask the roofing partner or us to stop contacting you at any time.
- Install Google’s opt-out browser add-on for Google Analytics, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, to stop Google Analytics from measuring your visits.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
- Ask us to delete your quote request, including the Sheet row and the backup copy, through the contact page.
Children
The site is for adults who own or manage property. It is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Security
The site uses HTTPS. The contact form checks every field on the server. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
